Cosmedix Opti Crystal is an anti-aging cream that promises to reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes.  It claims to keep the skin hydrated, boost collagen and protect from free radical damage.  So far it sounds like every other eye cream out there, right?  So what makes Cosmedix Opti Crystal different?

Well, Cosmedix Opti Crystal contains liquid crystals.  They claim that the crystals sync with the skin’s own natural crystal-like structures to optimize nourishing and hydrating functions.

As an esthetician, I know skin care and my job is to call it like it is so that I can save you time and money.  Liquid crystal is not going to aid in the anti-aging process and Cosmedix Opti Crystal offers no clinical studies to back their claims.  However, a formula containing liquid crystals is not completely useless.   They are commonly used for their brightening effect and their ability to give skin a glowing appearance.

Sometimes skin care products makes big claims to draw more attention.  However, it doesn’t mean that it’s a bad product.  Keep reading to find out how Cosmedix Opti Crystal is more than just a liquid crystal formula.

Cosmedix Opti Crystal Active Ingredients:

Comedix Opti Crystal contains 4 main anti-aging ingredients.  It is formulated without parabens, mineral oil or chemical dyes which is always a good thing when choosing an eye cream.

1. Spin Trap is an anti-oxidant that prevents the breakdown of collagen and elastin by protecting the skin from free radicals.  Free radicals cause pre-mature aging and Spin Trap works by converting them into oxygen.
2. Alpha Lipoic Acid is an anti-oxidant known for it’s ability to hydrate and heal.  It also promotes the production of collagen.
3. Coconut Extract contains nourishing and hydrating properties.  It is also said to contain growth hormones that can stimulate new cell growth.
4. Copper Complex is used to stimulate the body’s own repair functions and has natural healing properties.

How Do I Use Cosmedix Opti Crystal?

Cosmedix Opti Crystal can be used day and night.  Most customers felt that using the cream at night kept their eyes hydrated and firm for a full 24 hours.  Using the cream during the day may leave the eye area feeling tacky and can cause makeup to seep.  The cream is very heavy and a small amount goes a long way.  The cream should be dabbed on around the eye area and can also be used on the lips.

Should I Buy Cosmedix Opti Crystal?

I think this is a cream worth trying.  Besides claiming to fight wrinkles with a liquid crystal formula, I think Cosmedix Opti Crystal is pretty straight forward.  It has positive customer reviews.  Most customers only use the product at night and say that a little goes a long way.  Customers also reported the eye area to remain hydrated all day and noticed an improvement in their fine lines.

I wish this product offered more information on their ingredients.  Especially their “liquid crystals”.  Can you tell that bugs me?  I also think that $90 is very expensive for an eye cream.
